Lotus House Fashion Class
Skill sharing is caring!
#ChromatBABES at the Lotus House Women’s Shelter, shot by Jade Lilly, styled by Margo Hannah
This summer, Chromat hosted a free weekly sewing workshop for residents at Lotus House Women’s Shelter in Overtown, Miami. The summer sessions culminated in a runway show and photoshoot where LH guests modeled some self-styled Chromat looks along with their own upcycled garments!
Class participants learned about sustainable upcycling using materials from the Lotus House Thrift Store in Wynwood and donated Chromat fabrics. They honed their sewing and fashion design skills with weekly activities: making tote bags from button-up dress shirts, upcycling t shirts into cute wraps and adding drawstring details, tie-dying textiles, fashion sketching, bikini making and more!
Big thank you co-facilitators Becca McCharen-Tran and Nadia Wolff and to LH staff Jackie Roth and Geneva Comeau♥️♥️
