Panelists Meredith Talusan, Ericka Hart, and DeSe Escobar with moderator Niki Franco talked about cultivating QUEER JOY while the safety and lives of LGBT people remain under constant threat. It was amazing to hear their different perspectives on navigating their identities.

"It's challenging to center queer joy in the midst of people trying to consume your identity. These are not just my identities, this is my life, these are my friends.”

-Ericka Hart

“It’s our collective joy that anti-trans and anti-queer people are trying to extinguish. So I make an effort to find what makes me happy.”

 - Meredith Talusan

{F}empower's Helen Peña led a QUEER JOY zine work shop discussing the role of artists in the Black liberation struggle, inspired by bell hooks' "Art on My Mind".

"People feel like asking for representation is enough, saying 'we have a diverse staff...' is not changing the fact that most of our people don't have food on the table, don't have health care, etc. "

- Helen Peña
