Swim Week Beach Clean Up
Photos by Jade Lilly
We partnered with Debris Free Oceans and 1 Hotel Beach Club to host a Beach Clean Up for Miami Swim Week 💙🌊
Thanks to all the #ChromatBABES who gathered to pick up plastic debris on Miami Beach (in their #ChromatSwim made from recycled fishing nets)!

Now that Chromat is fully based in Miami, our goal is to celebrate the land and people that make this place so special.

Debris Free Oceans is a Miami-based organization that inspires local communities to responsibly manage the lifecycle of plastics and waste as part of a global initiative to eradicate marine debris from our beaches, reefs, and oceans. This amazing organization plans local beach clean ups and underwater dive clean ups, along with education on micro plastics and the ways in which environmental degradation is a racial justice issue.

Did you know humans ingest about a credit card’s worth of plastic every week? Microplastics are in the seafood we eat and the water we drink.

In 1 hour, we collected over 30 lbs of trash!
It’s a small step, but removing this plastic helps prevent it from entangling animals, ending up in the bellies of seabirds, or breaking down into microplastics that are ingested by marine life and then, us.
